AFENET RECEIVES THE “POLIO HEROES’ AWARD” IN NIGERIA FOR OUTSTANDING WORK IN THE ELIMINATION OF WILD POLIOVIRUS IN NIGERIA
Nigeria was certified wild polio-free on 25th August 2020. The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health commemorates the Third anniversary of Wild Poliovirus eradication in Nigeria on the 25th of August 2022. The event was an avenue to felicitate individuals and organizations that provided their support in various capacities towards the eradication of wild poliovirus in Nigeria with the “Polio Heroes’ Award”.
AFENET was one of the awardees at the event. The award was received by the Regional Coordinator, Dr Patrick Nguku. The event was also an avenue to reiterate and reinforce some key messages on childhood immunization and COVID-19 vaccination.
Remember, Polio has no cure. It can only be prevented through vaccination.
