Establishment of the Preparedness Technical Working Group

AFENET Staff, graduates and trainees of Nigeria FELTP were active members of the preparedness TWG established to prepare the nation for possible outbreak of COVID-19 in the country. The TWG was headed by a graduate of Nigeria FELTP. The group developed the pre-incident action plan, the simulation exercise and the point of entry monitoring.

Development of pre-incident Action Plan (Pre IAP)

The preparedness TWG adapted the already existing Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Plan to develop a Pre-Incident Action Plan for possible CoronaVirus Outbreak in Nigeria.

Simulation exercise

AFENET Nigeria was actively involved in the planning and execution of the first simulation exercise on COVID-19 outbreak held in Lagos on the 26 and 27 February 2020 in collaboration with Nigeria Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization and other partners. The exercise was aimed at testing the operability of the system established to detect and respond to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Nigeria and identify areas of improvement.
