AFENET supported the selection, training, and deployment of a team of epidemiologists, infection control and prevention experts and laboratorians to the major international points of entry in Nigeria (Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano) as part of enhance surveillance for the outbreak of COVID-19 in Nigeria. They were involved in the screening of inbound air travelers into Nigeria, sample collection and isolation of the suspected cases of COVID-19 patients coming into the country. Their activities were very helpful in the identification of the initial cases imported into Nigeria.
