Initial Deployments to Lagos

The first case of COVID-19 was confirmed inLagos State on the 27th February 2020. This necessitated the deployment of NFELTP residents and graduates to support the outbreak response. Lagos State based residents and graduates were deployed and a senior epidemiologist from AFENET initially. As the number of COVID-19 cases increased, additional residents and graduates were deployed. In all, eighty residents, graduates and AFENET staff supported the Lagos State COVID-19 response majorly in Epidemiology and surveillance by conducting case identification ,contact tracing and monitoring,port of entry screening of passengers at the airport and rumour management. Also supported the laboratory pillar in sample collection from various COVID-19 screening centers across the state.

AFENET further supported Lagos State in staff training and logistics management.
