Epidemiological research and knowledge sharing are among the fundamental goals of AFENET. This is evidenced by the long history of successful scientific writing workshops and publication in high impact peer-review journals. Between 10th to 14th of February 2020, AFENET Nigeria facilitated a manuscript writing workshop at the AFENET office.
Sixteen residents and recent NFELTP graduates participated in the five-day hands-on mentorship exercise. The facilitators were drawn from the University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, and AFENET Nigeria.
The topics covered included publication ethics, referencing, peer review process, style of scientific writing and among others. The goal of the hands-on workshop is to transform the draft manuscripts developed by the residents to a form ready for submission to journals.
