In a bid to solve the data quality issue in the country, NSTOP is implementing the SMS Routine Immunization (RI) Project in Nasarawa state. The project is being piloted in two (2) selected Local Government Areas of the state. Over one hundred (100) participants had been trained: made up of health facility in charges, Local Immunization officers (LIOs), Cold Chain Officers (CCOs) and officials from the State Primary Health Care Board.
SMS gateway is a platform that accepts data sent from an electronic hand-held device (phone). The platform is dynamic as it solves data management and analytical problems. Some other features it has include SMS-reminders, client and event tracking, generating visit schedules, creating dynamic reports, generating statistical reports, dashboards, pivot tables etc.
In addition, phones and sims were procured by NSTOP and distributed to facilities in the piloted LGAs for real time data reporting.
