District Health Information System2 (DHIS2) Jigawa State
District Health Information System2 (DHIS2) was piloted in kano state in 2014 as the country’s recommended electronic reporting platform for Routine Immunization (RI). NSTOP was given the task of rolling out DHIS2 in the country by US CDC. As it is peculiar with NSTOP it achieved the given task within the stipulated period.
The DHIS 2 training, which was a week-long activity held from December 4-8 in Jigawa State making it the 37th state to be trained. Over 90 participants comprising Local Immunization Officers (LIOs), Cold Chain Officers (CCOs), Monitoring and Evaluation Officers (M&Es), Assistant Monitoring and Evaluation Officers (M&Es), State Representatives and Implementing partners participated in the training.
The Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Aliyu, declared the training open. In his opening remarks, NSTOP was commended for the great job it has been doing and for its frequent support for RI activities.To make work convenient for the LIOs, who are the custodians of the RI data, laptops were donated by NSTOP to all of them. So far, over 60,000 people in the country have been trained and all states including the FCT are reporting on the DHIS 2 RI platform.
